colourQ challenge #281

So, today was supposed to be my kiddos first day back at school after being out for snow for the past WEEK, but Mother Nature had other ideas. Holy Cow!! But my precious husband took the kids to work with him for a couple of hours so I could work on this week's colourQ challenge and use my three new stamp sets that FINALLY ARRIVED!! I live in East Tennessee and we are not used to this much winter weather. One week of snow is one thing but as we get into the middle of week 2, we are all getting a big case of cabin fever, especially when there is a possibility of more snow tomorrow night. And FROZEN FOG, too!! What the heck is frozen fog? But I digress . . . I used a new set from Altenew Stamps called Painted Flowers for this card. I can already tell that I am REALLY going to like this set! Because I had to use the same color for the background image and the detail image, I stamped off the background image and used the full-strength color for the detail. I don't have a Peach Parfait ink pad, so I used my marker, which I hate using on polymer stamps. This card is so springy and gives me hope that warmer days are ahead! Several of the cards on the Altenew web site show the details stamped in black, which I really like, so I created the same card with black detailing. Which one do you like better? Thanks for leaving your comments here. I LOVE getting feedback!

colourQ challenge #280

I got a little sneaky peak at this week's colourQ challenge because I asked nicely and I was desperate to work on my card today because we are covered in ice and snow here in E. TN. Thankfully, we stocked up on coffee, eggs, and all the other necessities so hopefully we will be in good shape, as long as the power stays on!! I had exactly NONE of the colors for today's challenge so I substituted SU! Elegant Eggplant, Rose Red, and Almost Amethyst. I used gold embossing powder to accent the brush strokes from PTI's Watercolor Wonder stamp set, which is still one of my faves, but one I haven't used in awhile. I also used Everyday Circles by Neat & Tangled, as well as their Birthday Bash Mix sequins, which are GORGEOUS and remind me of Mardi Gras colors - perfect for today. Thanks for stopping by! Stay safe and stay warm.

Papertrey Ink's Blue Skies Challenge

PTI is giving away a TON of gift certificates in honor of their 8th anniversary this week and I am taking every opportunity I can to win one!! Today's challenge is to create a blue ombre card in honor of their new Blue Skies Collection that will be released on February 15. Unfortunately, I had another sympathy card to make this week and I thought these beautiful shades of blue were perfect. The colors I used are SU! Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, & Bermuda Bay, and PTI Hawaiian Shores & Tropical Teal. I love this large Neat and Tangled sentiment and I use it often for a variety of occasions. Hope you're staying well and warm! Thanks so much for stopping by.

colourQ challenge #278 and PTI Giveaway

I have really amped things up this week - one card, TWO CHALLENGES! I LOVE the colors in this week's colourQ challenge. I rarely think to put red and pink with orange, but it's such a fun, fresh color combination. My SU! ink pads are entering their final phase, so I am slowly but surely replacing them with other brands of ink. I used SU! Pretty in Pink and Pumpkin Pie along with Tim Holtz Festive Berries and Picked Raspberry (my favorite pink!!). And over at Papertrey Ink, they are celebrating eight, glorious years by giving away a TON of prizes that I definitely want to win!! Today's challenge was to use more than one floral stamp set to create a bouquet and this is my take on that challenge. I used my two favorite PTI florals, Daydreamer and Bigger Blooms. I have never layered these two sets before, but I love the result and it was a fairly simple card to put together. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your Sunday afternoon!!

Make It Monday #200: Layering Cover Plate Die Cuts

I haven't done a Make it Monday Challenge in forever! And as impossible as this coverplate is to use, it's the only one I have so I gave it another try. For some reason, the New Leaf cardstock cut perfectly - probably the first perfect cut I've ever gotten from this coverplate - but the Hawaiian Shores took three tries to get a usable image. This is very similar to Dawn McVey's card primarily because I LOVE these colors together! You simply can't beat blue and green together. Thanks for stopping by today - have a great evening!
